The McKeon Group Announces Second Research Associate Class of Summer 2019

The McKeon Group announced the second half of the research associate class for the Summer 2019 session. The mission of the program is to make the Washington, D.C. accessible to future leaders around the nation and to prepare those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities. The program provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience, first-hand knowledge, and build leadership skills.

The below list includes the Summer 2019 research associates, their hometowns, and the higher education institution they most recently attended:

Kirstyn Dugger is a sophomore at Salisbury University, studying Political Science with a minor in International Relations. As an intern within the McKeon Group, she hopes to obtain a clear understanding of how the political system works as well as continue to build and polish important skills.

Luke Donohue is an undergraduate attending Central Michigan University, majoring in History and International Relations. As an intern with the McKeon Group, Luke hopes to acquire a greater understanding of how the Senate and the House of Representative influence foreign policy.

Gӧrkem Kӧroğlu is from Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey. He is studying International Relations and Economics. Gӧrkem hopes to experience what it is like to work in Washington, D.C. as well as develop his knowledge and skills for his major.

Ashton Singler is studying Communication and Political Science at the University of South Florida. What brought her to the McKeon Group is their policy work, specifically in education. She was born and raised in new Smyrna Beach, Florida, after graduation in this upcoming December she plans to move to the D.C. area.

Carmen Perry is a rising senior at Salisbury University, studying Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology through the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. Given her scientific background, she hopes that her time at the McKeon Group will improve her understanding of how environmental policy is created. After college she plans on pursuing a career in environmental law and policy.
