Marc joins the McKeon Group as the Vice President, Professional Services after 47 years of combined service in the United States Army and as a senior Corporate Executive doing business with the Federal Government. His military service included command assignments with armor and cavalry units worldwide as well as two tours of duty in the Pentagon as an Army General Staff Officer serving in the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Office of the Secretary of the Army, Legislative Liaison.
Most recently, Marc was the President of Ceradyne Armor Systems, Inc. Marc’s position required him to exercise comprehensive P&L responsibility for a multi-billion-dollar armor business with the Department of Defense and international customers worldwide. His responsibilities included a $600M sales and operations budget with direct responsibility to balance sales against operating capacity and overhead; as well as expanding opportunities in IR&D, continuous product improvement, supply chain operations and quality assurance operations. As a key corporate official, Marc was tasked by the Chairman of the Board with direct responsibility for corporate wide compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulation and Export Compliance, as well as the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Marc’s program was designed to insure full compliance from international corporate representatives, offshore employees and US participants.
As a highly skilled communicator and officer of a public corporation, Marc was called upon from time to time to brief the banking and investment community on market outlook, trends and expectations and financial performance. These sessions required an in-depth knowledge of Congressional and Defense budget development and execution as well as the fluctuating, often ambiguous, activity across a vast number of Defense programs and their anticipated impact on corporate earnings. He was often called upon by market analysts and the media for expert advice on defense related matters. His position required direct, effective and responsive communications with government contracting officers. Government ID/IQ contracts, Firm Fixed Price contracts, RFP’s, proposals and knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations are all part of Marc’s acquisition knowledge and skill set. He has participated in the M&A activities providing advice and assistance in the conduct of several high dollar acquisitions. His expertise in matters related to government budget operations often lead to him being interviewed by a wide variety of industry oriented journalists; seeking his expert opinion on matters of importance and interest to their readers.
Marc has conducted international business across the globe. His experience has taken him from Europe to Asia, India, the Middle East and South America. He has served as a consultant to a number of European and Israeli companies in business areas that include aerospace, naval defense, logistics operations and ground weapons systems. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a Master’s Degree in Public Service from Western Kentucky University. He is married to Mary R. George, former Pentagon Senior Executive and Presidential Rank Award recipient. They reside in Germantown, Maryland.
